Childhood obesity has become so prevalent in the United States that even the White House is getting involved to raise awareness. Started by First Lady Michelle Obama, the Let’s Move! campaign hopes to engage all individuals that impact the health of children. One component of the Let’s Move! campaign is Let’s Move Outside, which helps encourage an active lifestyle while connecting children to nature, and Landscape Structures is doing its part, by creating their nature-inspired playgrounds. Recently, Landscape Structures and the Minneapolis Park Board completed the 4th Avenue Playground in Minneapolis, Minn. The playground incorporates a nature-inspired sawmill-themed play structure. The Let’s Move! campaign grew from the First Lady’s decision to grow the White House Kitchen garden. From that garden, she began talking with children about their nutrition and activities, and how both play a key role in a healthy lifestyle. The Let’s Move! campaign provides simple tools to schools, families and communities that help teach children the value of being more active, eating better and getting healthy. Landscape Structures is doing its part to get children active by creating enticing outdoor environments with nature-inspired playgrounds. Learn more about Let’s Move!
