We are very happy to be able to support the American Red Cross and to be able to contribute to the efforts to offer relief to the thousands affected by the Haitian earthquakes.
Essington, PA (Vocus) March 15, 2010
On March 3rd Parking Company of America Airports (PCAA) made a donation to the American Red Cross Haitian Relief Fund. Since the earthquake struck Haiti on January 12th, PCAA and its employees have raised funds to support relief efforts. PCAA matched dollar for dollar the employee contribution, making the total donation $8289.00. Several PCCA employees are from Haiti.
The funds will be used to supply blankets, hygiene kits, mosquito netting and clean drinking water. Says Charles Huntzinger, President and Chief Executive Officer, 'We are very happy to be able to support the American Red Cross and to be able to contribute to the efforts to offer relief to the thousands affected by the Haitian earthquakes.”
The Haiti earthquakes have affected more than 1.3 million people. The Red Cross global network provides immediate and long-term relief. Through their coordinated efforts, they have been able to provide food, water, hygiene kits, and latrines. With the rainy season around the corner, the Red Cross is focusing on distributing emergency shelter materials.
“We are gravely concerned about the upcoming rainy season as well as the hurricane season for hundreds of thousands of Haiti’s homeless people,” says David Meltzer, senior vice president of international services with the American Red Cross. “The Red Cross is working feverishly to get tents and tarps to everyone who needs them, but we also recognize that these temporary shelters are not hurricane proof.” The American Red Cross has added another $20 million in funding for emergency shelter materials.
