A recent publication in Landes Bioscience Journal "mAbs" (Nov/Dec 2010) titled "Charge variants in IgG1: Isolation, characterization, in vitro binding properties and pharmacokinetics in rats" highlights how Genentech utilized cation exchange displacement chromatography to isolate and scale up the major charge variants of a recombinant humanized IgG1.
