An explosion, apparently caused by a ruptured gas line, ripped through a neighborhood in San Bruno, California, Thursday. The San Francisco-area city suffered at least four deaths and numerous injuries, in addition to the loss of dozens of homes according to reports by local news outlets. San Bruno gas explosion lawyers at the Dolan Law Firm are offering legal services to those directly impacted and have vowed to pursue the responsible parties in order to recover compensation for them.
The fire and explosion occurred at approximately 6:00 Thursday evening. It left a crater 30 feet wide in the neighborhood of single-family homes, which has been partially leveled by the catastrophe.
CNN is reporting that the owner of the pipeline, Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E), says that it is investigating the cause of the fire. In addition, both local and federal investigators are seeking answers.
The names of the deceased victims have not been released. Dental records will be used to confirm their identities. According to The San Francisco Chronicle, more than 50 people sustained burn injuries, smoke inhalation injuries and other injuries.
Twenty-five percent of the homes involved in the fire remain too hot for investigators to approach, much less confirm whether they contain more victims.
Residents reported hearing an explosion that sounded like a plane crashing or an earthquake. A local college student told The L.A. Times that “[i]t just kept getting louder.”
The San Francisco Chronicle has reported that the explosion propelled chunks of asphalt in the air, in addition to melting cars and destroying homes. San Bruno fire injury attorneys understand the devastation that the disaster has had on area residents.
