Lake Mary, FL (Vocus) September 1, 2010
ESA Renewables, LLC, a leading turnkey PV system developer, has been awarded a contract to provide a turnkey PV system with a capacity of 1MW. All electricity generated will be sold to Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) under a 10 year power purchase agreement. The system will be located in Culberson, NC, approximately 200 miles southwest of Charlotte, NC and will further facilitate TVA’s growing green power portfolio in providing their customers with renewable energy.
ESA will provide a complete turnkey solution including design, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, testing and O&M services. The solar array will consist of approximately 4,166 solar panels to yield a 1MW system, which is expected to generate approximately 1,302,000 kWh of electricity annually. The system will be installed on a 16 acre parcel of property and has a scheduled commercial operation date of November 2010. Once operational, the project will be one of the largest solar PV installations in North Carolina.
ESA is committed to developing innovative strategies to expand the use of solar power and is additionally developing approximately 15MW’s of projects throughout North Carolina to facilitate this expansion. “We are helping to meet immediate renewable energy goals and looking forward to including these projects in TVA’s growing green power portfolio,” said Jeffrey Burkett, President of ESA Renewables. “We have multi megawatts of solar projects in our global portfolio and these projects are the next step in the development of local utility scale renewable projects. Additionally, the projects are a clear validation of our approach to develop and market solar power in North Carolina and across the US.”
