With one of the best warranties in the industry, the Tucson Limited should be a consideration for anyone looking for a well-rounded road trip worthy vehicle

As the weather gets increasingly warmer, families and friends are starting the planning process for summer vacations and weekend road trips. Driving hours upon hours doesn’t need to be a daunting task with the right vehicle. To maximize the fun-factor of these trips, Thule, a world leader in transportation accessories, is proud to announce the awards for their 2010 Thule Road Trip Vehicles of the Year. This distinction is reserved for automobiles above and below $30,000 that provide the perfect combination of fun, utility, gas mileage, safety and conveniences for a family or group of four planning the great American road trip.

“This is the third year we have awarded these distinctions. Automobile companies are definitely listening to consumers by offering more options at a lower price. Our ranking system is based on 10 unique criteria; styling, storage, gas mileage, size, cost, number of cup holders and speakers, warranty, entertainment options, safety and comfort. Additional considerations were given to vehicles that offered four-wheel or all-wheel drive.” commented Karl Wiedemann, Thule’s Channel Marketing Manager.

Under $30,000 2010 Thule Road Trip Vehicle of the Year – Hyundai Tucson Limited
Starting at just under $25,000 the Hyundai Tucson Limited provides great value, utility and style. Combining seating for five, 23mpg city / 31mpg highway and enough pep to get up to speed on the highway, the Tucson Limited is a great value in a CUV.

“When you sit in the Tucson you really feel part of the vehicle. The seats combine the right combination of support and comfort. The control dials are intuitively placed around the driver and keep their eyes up toward the road,” remarked Tripp Wyckoff, Thule’s VP of Sales, Marketing and Service.

With the factory installed raised rail, adding Thule crossbars, bike carrier, kayak carrier or box to the Tucson is as simple as turning four knobs.

“With one of the best warranties in the industry, the Tucson Limited should be a consideration for anyone looking for a well-rounded road trip worthy vehicle,” Wyckoff added.

Over $30,000 2010 Thule Road Trip Vehicle of the Year – Volvo XC70
The Volvo XC70 has been the work horse in the Volvo lineup for over a decade. This ever capable vehicle is at home driving to a red carpet movie premier or covered in mud driving down miles of dirt roads. Though not a true SUV, the XC70’s height provides great ground clearance to get through the toughest drifts while making it easy to load the roof with all the outdoor gear you need for an adventurous weekend away.

“Inside the XC70 is pure style. The fit and finish of this vehicle is 100% Volvo. Premium materials, ergonomic controls and all the technological features you would expect in a luxury automobile. The XC70 is a dream to drive,” said Wiedemann

“One of the core values, at Thule, is encouraging people to live an active lifestyle. By doing this with our own employees we remain true to this value. We encourage everyone to take a road trip to explore, enjoy and appreciate the beauty of the open road,” concluded Wiedemann.
