As iParadigms Europe, the nLearning team will continue to deliver the world-leading support services with the same staff, customer-centric approach and thought leadership that have made them so successful over the past eight years
Oakland, CA (Vocus) September 21, 2010
iParadigms, the creator of Turnitin® and iThenticate®, and the global leader in originality checking and plagiarism prevention, announces that nLearning Limited, their long-time exclusive European reseller of Turnitin and producers of the biennial International Plagiarism Conference, will become iParadigms Europe Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of iParadigms LLC, effective the first of October 2010.
“As iParadigms Europe, the nLearning team will continue to deliver the world-leading support services with the same staff, customer-centric approach and thought leadership that have made them so successful over the past eight years,” said Chris Caren, President and CEO of iParadigms. “The nLearning team will continue to be great partners and advocates for Turnitin working closely with their customers and representatives internationally.”
Will Murray, CEO of nLearning, said, "nLearning was a Northumbria University start up, founded by academics and business people in 2002 with a simple objective: to provide the type of support and customer relations we would have liked from our own e-learning suppliers. We are pleased to bring together two organizations with highly aligned goals and build upon the great work of the nLearning team.”
iParadigms Europe Ltd will continue to provide community-led guidance and best practices in addressing the issue of academic plagiarism, as Murray adds: The Plagiarism Advisory Service (now PlagiarismAdvice.Org) was initially commissioned by the Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC) with an objective of becoming self-funding within 5 years, a tender which nLearning won. We achieved JISC’s five year targets for the service and continue to be committed to delivering publicly accessible guidance and research via PlagiarismAdvice.org. As iParadigms Europe, we will establish an advisory board of experts—including academic integrity experts such as Dr. Mike Reddy, Dr. Jo Badge and Dr. Erica Morris—to oversee the on-going growth of this work. This board will also guide the academic content of the 5th International Plagiarism Conference planned for 2012.”
Will Murray, CEO of nLearning, will join the iParadigms executive team as the Vice President of International Sales. As of the first of October 2010, institutions in the UK and Europe will receive Turnitin and iThenticate services from iParadigms Europe Limited.
Norman Wiseman, Head of Services and Outreach at the JISC, who originally funded the plagiarism advisory service, said “This is a great example of partnership between business and education leading to a self sustaining advisory service and community, building on the work initiated by a series of JISC projects and providing significant value for money to the sector”.
