Famed comedian Tom Arnold, who’s appeared in feature films such as “True Lies” and “Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery,” will perform his stand-up comedy during shows at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. at Lake of the Torches Resort Casino on Saturday, February 20. Tickets are $25 and $35. You must be 18 to attend.
A Midwesterner by birth (he was born in Ottumwa, Iowa), Arnold started out performing a stand up routine called “Tom Arnold and the Goldfish Review.” After incorporating several props into the act, ending the routine by swallowing the Goldfish. This routine led him to be noticed by comedian Roseanne Barr, who he would eventually marry. He worked as a writer for her television sitcom Roseanne that aired from 1989-1993 and he occasionally appeared on the show as the character “Arnie Thomas,” a spoof of his real name.
In 1992, Arnold starred in his own sitcom, “The Jackie Thomas Show,” which aired after Roseanne. He followed this television success with his role in the 1994 feature film “True Lies,” directed by James Cameron and starred Arnold Schwarzenegger. He also appeared in such movies as “Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery,” “Nine Months,” and “Exit Wounds.” He had his first romantic lead part in the 2005 film “Happy Endings”.
Arnold currently hosts the show “My Big Redneck Wedding” on the CMT channel and has had a guest role on the hit TV show “Sons of Anarchy” on FX.
“Whether you loved him in his many film roles or remember Tom from his sitcom work, this is your chance to see an international celebrity in person at a great price,” said Director of Marketing Michael J. Broderick. “Lake of the Torches is so excited to have a true Hollywood star in the Northwoods for two shows, and we would like to invite all of our customers and fans to treat themselves and their guests to a night out and hear some outstanding comedy.”
