EnsureIT provides the embedded industry with comprehensive application protection to ensure that business models, IP, and digital rights management requirements are met.

Arxan Technologies®, a leading provider of application hardening solutions that protect software applications from attacks to minimize risk to code and intellectual property (IP), today announced it has expanded its software protection technology to shield embedded and mobile software against reverse-engineering of intellectual property (IP), tampering and unauthorized use.

EnsureIT extends to embedded software and platforms similar security as Arxan’s GuardIT®, the proven, award-winning family of products, which primarily secures desktop and server applications. Arxan’s EnsureIT™ delivers to embedded and mobile applications automated embedded software protection that is durable and easy to deploy. It can actively defend, detect, and react to attempted application attacks, including those on mobile applications for the Android™ and iPhone®.

“Embedded software is vital to today’s economy, powering everything from popular gaming systems to mobile platforms, medical equipment or critical infrastructure software such as in telecommunications. Increasingly, it is also the target of hacking and large-scale, organized cyber attacks,” said Paul Roberts, senior analyst at The451 Group. “Rather than layering security in front of the devices running embedded software, solutions like Arxan’s EnsureIT provide software developers with a robust security platform to maintain the integrity of the code, and ultimately the end-user device.”

“Global deployment of embedded systems continues to grow as more than 10 billion mobile consumer devices are expected in the marketplace by 2020.(1) This will continue to foster an increase in attacks stemming from that broader distribution, as well as from the ready-availability of hacking tools for disassembly and decompilation, which together results in the compromise of software code,” said Mike Dager, chief executive officer of Arxan. “We are pleased to meet customer demand for embedded application security with EnsureIT. It provides the embedded industry with comprehensive application protection to ensure that business models, IP, and digital rights management requirements are met.”

EnsureIT is built on Arxan’s patented Guard technology which embeds protections directly into the software code to maintain the integrity of the application in real-time.

Key features of EnsureIT include:

  • Ability to support a wide variety of processors including ARM, MIPS, PowerPC platforms.
  • Command line interface to integrate into build environment
  • Fast, automated diversification to prevent BORE exploits
  • Probabilistic, randomized execution for additional security
  • No single point of failure
