ARK Management, a San Diego-based commercial property and homeowners association management company, has secured four new residential management accounts for its HOA and CID Services Division. The firm has also appointed five additional seasoned professionals to join its residential management division.
“The extensive growth ARK Management has experienced is the result of long-standing management experience, exceptional detail-oriented customer service, and a growing team of ambitious industry professionals,” explained Adam Robinson, co-owner of ARK Management. “With the addition of these four homeowner association contracts, we have added approximately 1,000 homes to our portfolio.”
The HOA and CID Services Division provides a broad list of services which include, but are not limited to, accounting, assistance to the Board with its mandate of operating the association, landscape/common area maintenance, re-bidding vendor contracts annually, board meeting management, and delinquency collection assistance. The firm also provides consulting input for future growth as each client’s community matures.
Homeowner Association Division’s New Management Contracts
ARK Management’s HOA and CID Services Division has added the following projects to its residential management portfolio since April 2010:
- Escondido Highlands/Emerald Heights, a master-planned, private gated community situated on more than 100 acres with approximately 690 single-family homes located in Escondido, Calif.
- The Bluffs, an upscale community with 78 deluxe townhomes located in Carlsbad, Calif.
- La Jolla City Club, a gated condominium complex located in La Jolla, Calif.
- Kisha townhomes, a condominium community located in Torrance, Calif.
HOA and CID Services Division’s New Hires
ARK Management has added five new professionals to the firm’s HOA and CID Services Division. The new industry additions include Richard Zizian, Director of HOA and CID Services; Susan Marie Smith, Director of Administration Oversight; Sally Spencer, Director of Project Transitioning and Organizational Management; Susannah Brown, Senior Community Manager; and Lynn McKinnie, Assistant Community Manager.
“We intend to quickly grow our share in the residential management market through the combined years of HOA and CID management expertise these five professionals possess,” added Robinson. “Our HOA and CID Services Division will assist associations to reduce costs and run more smoothly, as well as help established associations implement new procedures on critical projects.”
Richard Zizian - Director of HOA and CID Services
Richard Zizian, JD, BS, is the Director of HOA and CID Services for ARK Management’s HOA and CID Services Division. Zizian’s more than 30 years of experience includes governing, developing, managing, and overseeing property management administration, facilities engineering and systems, and risk management. In addition, Zizian has extensive experience with new association startups, Davis-Stirling Act compliance, and CC&R/Bylaw enforcement. He specializes in urban high-rise residential towers, condominium complexes, single-family gated estates, and resort condominiums.
Prior to joining ARK Management, Zizian has served as an Executive Board Director for numerous HOAs including President of the Grande North, a 39-story, 221-unit luxury residential high-rise in San Diego, Executive Director for Palm Springs Villas and Arrowhead Lake Estates, both large-scale resort condominium startups, and Brook Hills Estates in Fallbrook.
Susan Marie Smith - Director of Administration Oversight
ARK Management added Susan ("Suzi") Marie Smith, BA as the Director of Administration Oversight for the firm’s HOA and CID Services Division. Smith is responsible for coordinating and overseeing all major administrative transitions, changes, implementations, undertakings, and innovations within client communities, including, but not limited to, Board and management staff liaison, Davis-Stirling compliance evaluations, data management and administration, major community projects, access control, rules and regulation modifications, SB800 litigation coordination, systems automation and transitions, and overseeing the firm’s operating model and methodology within each of its HOA/CID communities.
“Smith is an experienced board member who can readily identify with the challenges of serving on a Board, as well as being an effective HOA community director in some of the most challenging technological and membership environments,” added Robinson.
Sally Spencer - Director of Project Transitioning and Organizational Management
Sally Spencer is the Director of Project Transitioning and Organizational Management. With more than 23 years in the association management industry, her experience includes customer service, interfacing and troubleshooting with the homeowner associations, Board of Directors and committees, and transitioning new accounts. Her corporate general manager responsibilities include overseeing managers and staff, human resources in conjunction with hiring and benefits, management of corporate accounting, and marketing. Most recently, Spencer served as general manager and Vice President of Community Management Service, a well-known association management company based in Northern California where she was also the majority owner.
Susannah Brown - Senior Community Manager
Newly hired Senior Community Manager Susannah Brown is responsible for on-site association general management, as well as off-site association portfolio management. Prior to joining ARK Management, Brown worked as a senior community association manager where she managed 19 associations totaling more than 3000 homes. She encompasses many industry designations including CCAM Certification, CAM Certification, CMCA Certification, and AMS Certification.
Lynn McKinnie - Assistant Community Manager
Lynn McKinnie has been appointed as an assistant community manager. Previously, McKinnie was the lead accountant and manager for GRG Property Management where she assisted in the management of homeowner’s associations for the firm.
ARK Management has grown substantially over the past six months and has added more than 650,000 square feet of third-party commercial management space to its portfolio since April 2010. After launching the HOA and CID Services Division, the firm plans to continue adding contracts to its residential management portfolio.
