Joanne Garneau, CEO of Nationwide Support Services, Inc., founded in 2005 to help people struggling with personal debt, was honored by the Camp Fire USA, Orange County Council at their annual golf tournament on October 18, 2010. Garneau was honored for her commitment to Camp Fire USA and leadership in the broader financial literacy movement. The golf tournament, held at the St. Regis, Monarch Beach, California was kicked off by California Assemblywoman Diane Harkey. The tournament involved over 80 community and business leaders hitting the links in support of Camp Fire USA, Orange County Council and its mission.

Garneau was honored at the banquet following the tournament. As a consumer advocate, Garneau’s innovative approach to financial services and debt resolution incorporates personal financial education, mentoring, coaching and empowerment. Garneau has helped thousands regain control of their finances and their lives.
Garneau realizes the need for financial literacy in America and has spearheaded the creation of Frugality Nation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the mission of rebuilding financial strength in the American household. One of the tools developed by Garneau to achieve financial literacy is The Frugality GameTM, an online ‘edutainment’ videogame that teaches financial literacy in a fun, interactive environment. “The Frugality GameTM is a unique and engaging way to get people to examine their finances and better understand their spending habits,” Garneau explains.
Impressed by the programs and mission of Camp Fire USA, Garneau became an active donor and supporter in 2009. At first, Garneau provided financial assistance and now has moved towards an integrated working relationship. Frugality Nation is currently collaborating with Camp Fire USA to create a financial literacy program, incorporating the Frugality GameTM for high school youth.
In addition to her partnership with Camp Fire USA, Garneau holds a fierce commitment to ensuring the well being of her own employees. Garneau developed financial mentoring and personal coaching programs to ensure employees are financially secure and healthy. She is involved with numerous charities, including the Orange County Rescue Mission, Doctors Without Borders, UNICEF, the ASPCA and others, and of course, Camp Fire USA, Orange County Council.
