Hydro Engineering Inc. has been designing waste water filtration systems for equipment wash rack applications for over 20 years. But now, new product enhancements to their Hydrokleen product line have simplify every aspect of the filtration or recycling requirement and eliminated the guess work of choosing the correct equipment to filter or recycle wash water.
“Water filtration is a little like crushing rock. We start by filtering the largest item (rock), and then filter down to the smallest item as required for your operation. We make sure that each contaminate from beginning to end is identified and removed so that the end product is water that can be reused in the washing process or discharged to sewer, “ Says Mr. McCormick.
Each Hydrokleen component delivers results for a single task. Identify contaminates in the waste water stream that are of concern, and then pick the component required to reduce or eliminate that contaminate.
The following list comprises the Hydrokleen product line:
- Primary solids filter; dirt sand, silt, clay and even gravel are collected in a well designed wash pad. This is where the design of a successful equipment wash rack start begins. A good wash rack design should remove 95% of all solids in the waste stream. This is important because then these solids do not move further into the filtration components adding to equipment maintenance requirements.
- Solids filter, secondary; free floating or suspended solids are removed with auto indexing bed filters completely eliminating bag filters. The CMAUF-2 removes the suspended solids to 1 micron nominal.
- Oil separation is handled with an active oil coalescing system. The OCS collects this free floating oil and floats it to the surface where it is skimmed and removed with a belt skimmer. Excess water is decanted back to the system.
- Bioreactors consumes organics material and reduces BOD/COD as well as control odor. This moving bed self cleaning bioreactor provides a safe, non corrosive method for bacteria control within the wash rack. Previously to using targeted bacteria and bioreactors for odor control, technology using ozone, chlorine and even Clorox have been use. However, as these do oxidize and kill bacteria, they can also be corrosive to the items being washed, and be a safety concern to operators within the wash bay
- Water filtration is added that contains a target media to continuously filter the water of dissolved solids and emulsified oils. These modules contain PLC control which monitor the system activity, automatically backwash and insure that the system is running to its maximum performance. Touch panel remote monitoring can be added provided instant service required notifications by email to anyone, anywhere in the world.
- Heavy metals filtration is done in with a second targeted media absorbing suspended metals.
- pH balancing may be a part of this process to enhance the life of the Hydro Biodigesters and for meeting pH levels for discharge of waste water.
