Exotic Automation & Supply’s ProteXus™ Crew Protection Systems have been selected as the exclusive interior solution for Advanced Defense Vehicle Systems’ (ADVS) 6x6x6 Desert Chameleon armored personnel carrier (APC).
ADVS designs, develops, and manufactures defense and security vehicles to meet current and future requirements for military, homeland security, and national security applications.
“We chose ProteXus™ Crew Protection Systems for their outstanding performance and ability to meet our strict criteria. Exotic Automation & Supply worked directly with our group and were very responsive to changes throughout the entire development process. They are experts in plastic and rubber compounds and have demonstrated themselves to be a crucial partner,” said James LeBlanc, Jr., President of Advanced Defense Vehicle Systems.
The ADVS Desert Chameleon APC’s interior is completely outfitted with ProteXus™ products. These include thermal insulation, sound insulation, wall padding systems with spall protection, and energy absorbing floor matting. Inclusion of ProteXus™ products resulted in meeting all specified criteria relating to blast mitigation, sound mitigation, thermal insulation, and signature management.
“Blast mitigation, sound and thermal insulation as well as thermal signature management are the core functions of ProteXus™ Crew Protection Systems,” said Raymon Thompson, Military Accounts Manager for Exotic Automation & Supply.
Officials from Exotic Automation & Supply’s Specialty Products Group said the ProteXus™ Crew Protection Systems ability to be retrofitted into existing APC vehicles as well as integrated into new vehicle platforms was a key factor in winning the work on the Desert Chameleon project. This was especially crucial since ADVS’s philosophy stresses modularity and adaptability in their vehicles.
“The ADVS Desert Chameleon project posed some unique challenges for our engineering team. As a mid-engine vehicle there were many unique requirements that had to be met. Rapid integration into the ADVS Desert Chameleon platform shows the strength of our approach of working hand-in-hand with our customers’ teams.” said Steven Orlando, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Exotic Automation & Supply.
