It’s the sort of downtime people don’t plan for – four minutes waiting for coffee, six minutes in line at the bank – that, when used wisely, could let them take care of 80% of marketing a business. It takes ‘wasted time’ and turns it into opportunity.

Vocus, Inc. (NASDAQ: VOCS), a leading provider of cloud-based marketing and PR software, has announced a mobile version of Vocus Marketing, the all-in-one console for attracting customers through social networks, the Web, and the media, allowing users to grow their businesses on the go, at home, at work or wherever they need to be.

Business owners and marketers can now log into the Vocus Marketing suite on any IOS (iPhone, iPad, iTouch) and Android device. Supported browsers include Android 2.1 and up, and Safari 5.0 and up. No extra charges apply, and no plug-ins are needed.

Vocus Marketing Mobile adds another layer of accessibility and ease of use to the Marketing product – making it an even more efficient tool for customers to perform their daily marketing activities - generating publicity and reaching customers through Facebook, Google, Twitter, the news and the Web, whenever it’s convenient for them.

”Smartphones are offering more and more potential for customers to connect with businesses, and that connectivity should be a two-way street,” says Rick Rudman, Chief Executive Officer at Vocus. “Just as a customer can now use a smartphone to research a business while on the premises, a business owner ought to be able to connect with customers from any location – including their shop floor - in the same manner. We’re delighted to announce that the Vocus Marketing suite will now fulfill that need.”

“Having the Vocus Marketing Suite go mobile allows users to make the most of what I call Short-Burst Downtime,” says Peter Shankman, HARO founder and Small Business Evangelist at Vocus, in a post on the Vocus Blog today. “It’s the sort of downtime people don’t plan for – four minutes waiting for coffee, six minutes in line at the bank – that, when used wisely, could let them take care of 80% of marketing a business. It takes ‘wasted time’ and turns it into opportunity.”

Vocus Marketing Mobile will allow smartphone users to do the vast majority of the tasks that they currently can do within the application, including:

  •     Tweet.
  •     Post to Facebook.
  •     Access full start page, including tweets, HARO publicity alerts, Facebook posts, and recommendations.
