I’m very excited to get into costume, and to see the crowd dressed as their favorite kid – all to support the ‘Day for Kids’ event the following day.
Wilmington, DE (PRWEB) September 15, 2011
In order to raise support for the “Day for Kids” family fun event happening on September 17th, the Mike Clark Legacy Foundation is hosting a “Night for Adults”, a kid-themed grown up party at the Riverfront Shoppes Suite 974, South Madison Street in Wilmington, DE.
The party is an invite-only event where each attendee gets the privilege of donning the apparel of his/her favorite kid for a great cause and with minimal shame. Guests can wear 5XL t-shirts, let their baggy pants sag below their waists, or even put on a flannel shirt and some Vans sneakers and bring a skateboard to the event.
David Ford, the chair of the MCLF, will be dressing up as his older daughter, which for him will mean a University of Vermont t-shirt, shorts, a pair of stylish green Crocs, and a smile on his face. While his wife, Patty Hoffman, will be dressing as the couple's younger daughter. Any favorite child’s apparel will do, though the more ridiculous, the better. David Ford commented on the event, “I’m very excited to get into costume, and to see the crowd dressed as their favorite kid – all to support the ‘Day for Kids’ event the following day.”
Funds raised will be directed towards the “Day for Kids”, a family focused and free event happening from noon to 5 p.m. on the river front the following day. It is an event that sets aside the third Saturday of September for kids and parents alike to spend true, quality time together by just playing games and hanging out. The event is held across the country and even on military bases overseas, giving families the opportunity to strengthen their relationships and have fun. The Boys & Girls Club of Delaware puts on the event every year filled with games, rides, activities, and food.
The “Night for Adults” party itself is sponsored by Leisure Fitness, hosted by the Mike Clark Legacy Foundation, and capped at 300 guests with an all-inclusive entrance fee at the door of $100. No lunch box is necessary as milk and cookies are provided along with an open bar, hors d’oeuvres, a live band, and more. Afterwards guests are sure to have a newfound appreciation for their favorite kid’s sometimes eyebrow raising style choices. The only condition of the event is that guests must resume wearing their normal dress once the festivities have ended.
About Us: The mission of the Mike Clark Legacy Foundation is to promote self-worth in youth through a union of education, health, and athletics, enabling them to see better alternatives and make positive life choices. The MCLF was formed to honor the memory of Mike Clark, a Delaware native and accomplished triathlete, and to continue his life-long dedication to children. Together we can make a direct impact on the lives of the children we support and, in turn, our communities.
