San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) January 3, 2011
When bestselling author Patricia V. Davis learned that Harper Davis Publishers, the startup independent that published her first full-length work was in need of a new president, she decided to put her name in the hat. As a result, starting in 2011, Patricia, along with her carefully-chosen crew, will be revamping the company with their groundbreaking vision.
Harper Davis Publishing (http://www.harperdavis.com) was created because the owners (who prefer to remain anonymous) read three books they loved by new authors and decided to form a publishing company just to see those three books in print. Patricia’s first book, "Harlot’s Sauce: A Memoir of Food, Family, Love, Loss, and Greece", was one of them. Plans were made to acquire other titles, but before they could be put into action, the president of Harper Davis Publishing resigned for personal reasons. That’s when Patricia stepped in.
“I've always enjoyed the many aspects of publishing, not just the writing of my own works. I enjoy helping new writers, discovering new authors; I love coaching authors on how to market their work, and love working with booksellers. Plus, I'll always be grateful to Harper Davis Publishing for the opportunity it gave me to see my first book in print. For all these reasons, I've decided to give this a go,” says Patricia.
In the mid-1990’s, Patricia worked overseas for Scholastic International in Greece and Cyprus, raising their sales 1900% in her territory. She hopes to continue her book sales success as the head of Harper Davis Publishing. Though a number of the original HD team members remain involved with the company, Patricia has spent months recruiting other talented individuals as well, and she is very enthusiastic about their plans:
“We have exciting innovations in the works. We're eager to commence with our new publishing model, which we believe will benefit everyone from the author, to the bookseller, to the publisher. We hope to become an inspiration for other publishers.” (Note: visit http://www.johngalvisagency.com for more info)
Then she jokes, “It's funny – Davis is such a common name in the publishing industry. When people learned who published my first book, they'd always ask if I was the 'Davis' in 'Harper Davis', and I'd reply, 'No.' Now I guess I can say, 'Yep ─ that's me!’”
Apart from heading her newly-acquired post at Harper Davis Publishing, Patricia is editor-in-chief of HS Radio e-magazine, (http://www.harlotssauce.com) in which she conducts podcast interviews and answers the questions sent in to her “Expert in Failed Relationships” advice column. She’s the author of "Harlot's Sauce: A Memoir of Food, Family, Love, Loss, and Greece", and "The Diva Doctrine: 16 Universal Principles Every Woman Needs to Know" ,which will be published in May 2011 by Cedar Fort Press. (http://www.cedarfort.com) Her writing has appeared in many national and international publications. Visit her website at: http://www.patriciaVdavis.com
