IT Recruitment
We anticipate that inflation, VAT increases, pay freezes and the typical New Year blues will all contribute to significant movement in the IT jobs market in 2011.
Amersham, Buckinghamshire (PRWeb UK) January 5, 2011
CV Screen the specialist IT Recruitment Agency report a significant rise in the number of registered IT vacancies during 2010, suggesting that confidence has been regained within the IT Jobs Market.
CV Screen looked into the number of registered vacancies during the first half of 2010 and compared these to the total number of registered vacancies during the second half of the year. CV Screen found that overall the number of registered vacancies had increased by some 10% during the second half of 2010.
During the same period, CV Screen also analysed the number of applications made by job seekers and found that the average number of CVs received for each role had risen from 194 during the first 6 months of the year to 210 during the latter part of the year, a rise of around 8%.
Commenting on the findings CV Screen's Matthew Iveson remarked "2010 has been a real turning point for the IT Jobs Market. We were hopeful that the economic climate would improve over the course of the year and the figures show that this has indeed been the case." Iveson continued; "The end of the recession in January 2010 brought renewed confidence amongst employers. Many who were previously cautious with regards to their recruitment policy have started to employ more staff and invest in their IT departments."
When asked about the increase in applications, Iveson commented "The rise in the number of IT professionals applying for roles could also be attributed to the fact that confidence is growing within the IT marketplace. During the days of the credit crunch, IT professionals were wary of moving jobs favouring stability over career development. Over the past year, they have moved out of their comfort zones, taking on new and fresh challenges."
In conclusion Iveson commented "The relative success of the IT jobs Market in 2010 should not leave us complacent as we move into 2011. We anticipate that inflation, VAT increases, pay freezes and the typical New Year blues will all contribute to significant movement in the IT jobs market in 2011. With wage inflation still fairly static, candidates should consider their commuting costs, roles which offer home working and ideally some IT training to compensate for the fact that many organisations are still not able to offer pay increases."
