Austin, TX, (PRWEB) January 18, 2011
In just under two months, when over 30,000 attendees come to Austin for the Interactive portion of the famous SXSW conference, there will be a new event to watch: Das IronGeek. To be held Tuesday, March 15, 2011, Das IronGeek puts competitors through a series of challenges. But in this case, the competitors are among the 1,500 press and bloggers influencers who attend SXSW, and the challenges come from a few of the 200+ companies exhibiting at the SXSW tradeshow.
The challenges are designed to be technology-related activities, things a “geek” would ideally know how to do and do well.
For the 2011 Das IronGeek, competitions to date include:
Additional participating companies and their competitions maybe added before Das IronGeek, and the roster of competing influencers will be revealed shortly too. Press and bloggers will go through the series of challenges Tuesday afternoon March 15, 2011, with the champion crowned at the SXSW tradeshow during the famous Block Party.
“We enjoyed being part of the test run of Das IronGeek in 2010 so much that we put our brand behind the whole idea for 2011 and onward,” said Das Keyboard co-founder Birgit Schroeder. “The goal is to bring a bit more buzz and excitement to the SXSW tradeshow floor, give attendees something fun to watch, and press a way to get involved with some healthy competition among peers and, of course, a way to showcase their “geekiness.”
Press and bloggers interested in competing, or covering, please contact Laura Beck. Details on Das IronGeek can be followed through out at @dasirongeek and #irongeek.
