American Soda, the online retailer of genuine American food and drinks, has reported impressive results for its newly opened physical store.
Based at the company’s premises in Ashton-under-Lyne, Manchester, the American Soda store opened its doors on 1st October 2010 and served over 800 customers to the end of the year, generating revenues of £17,000.
Almost half the customers served and 40% of the revenue generated came in December in the run-up to Christmas.
“We’re delighted with the way the store has taken off,” said managing director David Hughes. “We are obviously an online retailer first and foremost, but we wanted to provide a physical location for our loyal and local customers to browse our 700+ product lines in person.
“The store has proved hugely popular and we’ve seen plenty of repeat business too. We’ve set up a Wall for our customers to contribute to by bringing and sending in US memorabilia, helping to create a ‘destination’ feel rather than just being a normal shop, as well as to make our customers feel part of the American Soda experience.”
American Soda have advertised the store on their website and on local radio station The Revolution, helping to boost sales further.
“We’re looking forward to growing offline sales through the store in 2011, alongside our online business, which also posted impressive results in the last quarter of 2010, generating almost £250,000 in revenue,” added Hughes.
The American Soda store is open six days a week, Monday to Saturday, 10-am to 4pm. It stocks genuine American food and drinks including Mountain Dew, Lucky Charms and Kool Aid.
