Daniels has a very purist view of cocktails that blends so well with the new cocktail scene growing across the country. With each of the drinks, he shares personal insights and some great stories about the cocktails he makes or creates.

Frank Daniels is the great-grandson of Josephus Daniels, who as Secretary of the Navy during WWI banned alcohol from the officer's mess and inspired the Navy tradition of a "Cup of Joe" (coffee) instead of wine with dinner. Daniels, like his great-grandfather, was editor of The News and Observer and went on to start several internet publishing ventures.

He is the co-founder of Wakestone Press, LLC. Prior to founding Wakestone Press, he was Chief Commercial Officer of Ingram Digital, which he joined after selling his company, VitalSource Technologies, to them in 2006.

He remains active in the newspaper business as co-owner of the The Pilot in Southern Pines, NC and writes a monthly column for Pinestraw on cocktails. He and his wife, Carol, live in Nashville, TN, where they are active in a variety of community activities.
