New York, NY (PRWEB) February 2, 2011
As Video-On-Demand (VOD) becomes increasingly profitable, the next big thing in movie watching for millions of Americans and billions of movies lovers around the globe, emerging film director Kirk Shannon-Butts is ecstatic to announce his acclaimed debut feature film, Blueprint, has been picked up by a pioneer in the VOD movie industry, TLA Releasing. TLA Releasing has signed Blueprint to an exclusive 2-year deal for global VOD distribution.
Blueprint has become a bonafied indie hit film, having screened to sold-out audiences on the international film festival circuit in North America, Europe, Asia, South America and Africa. Awarded a Jerome Foundation grant for the screenplay, Blueprint is the first film from new filmmaker Shannon-Butts and unfolds the story of New York City boys, Keith, 17, and Nathan, 18, two college freshman who meet one day off campus and prolong this encounter into a budding romantic relationship in short delicate moments while exploring New York City and each other.
Called an “urban valentine” by Frameline, Shannon-Butts, collaborated with TLA Releasing to secure a February release date to celebrate Black History Month and Valentine’s Day by injecting a little LGBTQ love and gay romance onto the February calendar with Blueprint. “Just like the month of February, Blueprint is not quite like the others. It’s doing its own thing yet helps to bring it all together. Imagine a year without February. We all would be lost,” says Shannon-Butts.
TLA Releasing distributes International and American films in North America and United Kingdom. Launched in 2001 by TLA Entertainment Group in Philadelphia, TLA Releasing is dedicated to broadening the choices available to film lovers by specializing in quality independent, international and gay/lesbian-themed films by distributing them in theaters and on home video.
Flickeria is Shannon-Butts’ own Harlem based production company, which produced the recent #1 MTVMUSIC.COM video Love, and will release his follow-up film Julian’s Bed in 2011. Next for Flickeria and Shannon-Butts is the silver screen adaptation of James Earl Hardy’s novel, The Day Eazy E Died. Filming begins Fall 2011.
