Recent Governor’s Aide Will Lead National Program To Connect Women

Women on Fire Founder Debbie Phillips announces the appointment of Jan Allen as the Women on Fire National Chair of "Each One, Reach One" program.

Since 2003, Women on Fire has connected women to one another to maximize their success through retreats, tea parties, coaching groups and media including the 2010 Indie Award® winning book Women on Fire: 20 Inspiring Women Share Their Life Secrets (and Save You Years of Struggle!) and the video Inspire Me!

“Jan’s long history as a strategist, businessperson and change agent in the fields of business, government, life and executive coaching are the perfect combination of expertise to grow and expand the reach of Women on Fire at this key time in our history,” Phillips said.

With more than 35 years of experience in creating and running successful businesses, and advising CEO’s, university presidents and senior government officials on strategy, policy, management, operational and communications issues, Allen, of Columbus, Ohio, was one of the first women to hold a top position in state government, as Deputy Chief of Staff to former Ohio Governor Richard F. Celeste. She has also led executive teams, most recently in Ohio Governor Ted Strickland’s Administration and prior to that as a business owner and principal of three successful entrepreneurial enterprises, Jan Allen Consulting, HMS/Success Public Relations and The Success Group, Inc.

“I’m excited to join this dynamic, inviting enterprise,” Allen stated, “to help support women to transform their own lives and the lives of others, and to weave together a supportive network of passionate women dedicated to making a difference.”

Allen received her Juris Doctor from the Moritz College of Law at The Ohio State University as well as a Master’s of Social Work and Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the same institution.

Phillips noted that Allen will launch Women on Fire’s Each One Reach One program nationally with an intense focus on Ohio as a model state that welcomes, embraces and supports women through life. The first goal is to reach and connect 5,000 women in the state to each other and to Women on Fire so they have the inspiration, strategies and support to make their dreams realities that in turn have a positive impact on our world.

Phillips also noted the appointment of Andrea Junk Dowding as Women on Fire’s Ohio Training Leader to build a cadre of talented tea party facilitators who can lead and connect Ohio women in powerful, in-person settings.
