San Diego, CA (PRWEB) February 2, 2011
BSE Engineering, Inc., providing full-service mechanical, electrical and energy engineering services with sustainability in mind, announced today that it secured more than $402,000 in electrical utility energy-efficiency incentives for the College of the Desert in Palm Desert through the California Community College/Investor Owned Utilities (CCC/IOU) Partnership program. The incentives, provided by Southern California Edison, are just the first received by the college for the 2010 retrofit work; incentives from Southern California Gas are also expected.
“We were thrilled to complete this project in fast-track fashion so it could be inspected and approved before the end of 2010 and qualify the college for the CCC/IOU incentives,” said Tamara Badkerhanian-Ganev, president/CEO of BSE Engineering. “We also well exceeded the college’s own initial sustainability goal, which was attaining energy savings of at least 10 percent.”
As prime contractor, BSE Engineering oversaw energy retrofits involving lighting, HVAC and energy management system (EMS) upgrades that have resulted in more than 1.6 million kilowatt hours in annual energy savings for the College of the Desert campus. The work did more than just reduce energy costs; it also supports triple bottom line accounting, making socially conscious decisions that are prudent financially and also good for people and the environment.
“Given our previous experience with Tamara, we had every confidence in her firm’s ability to do a quality job despite the quick turnaround,” said Steve Renew, Director of Facilities and Operations at College of the Desert. “BSE personnel were responsive and exhibited strong project management skills, and I didn’t have to waste time with constant follow-up.”
