MailChimp Integrates with Amazon SES Providing Enhanced Transactional Email Support

Easily send order confirmations and other one-to-one messages via MailChimp

MailChimp, the leading email technology platform, today announced an integration with Amazon’s Simple Email Service (SES) making it easy for MailChimp subscribers to send out transactional emails. MailChimp offers additional tracking capabilities to augment the capabilities of the Amazon platform. MailChimp subscribers, at no additional charge, will be able to track aggregate opens and clicks and can also tag messages by category, e.g. receipts.

The new Simple Transactional Service (STS), is available immediately to all MailChimp subscribers in a paid plan via the MailChimp API at http://apidocs.mailchimp.com/sts/1.0/. MailChimp subscribers should first set up their Amazon SES account at: http://aws.amazon.com/ses/. Then they can log in to their MailChimp account to establish the integration with their respective Amazon account. Subscribers will also need to apply for production access to the Amazon service here: http://aws.amazon.com/ses/fullaccessrequest. Once a subscriber has production access with Amazon SES, MailChimp will help manage the warmup process, queuing emails when Amazon throttle rates are in effect.
