Tallahassee, FL (PRWEB) February 3, 2011
A never-before, far-reaching initiative in the animal welfare world will be launched this week. Called “Animal Awakenings”, it begins with two major conferences for animal support groups and other animal lovers. The events will take place live through the Internet. A new virtual learning center is also included.
Registration opens February 4 for the first virtual conference. Scheduled for May 20-21, its focus will be on training and professional capacity building for nonprofit groups that work to support animals. The goal: equipping staff, volunteers and members of such groups to be as effective as possible on behalf of animals in need.
The second conference, July 16, is geared to the public … animal lovers at-large. All can attend the events right from their own PCs – no travel, no wasted time, no pollution.
Executives and program managers from prominent organizations, companies and agencies make up the faculty for the events. Officials from national and international animal welfare organizations plus a host of other experts will present.
Participating nonprofits include those concerned with companion animals – dogs, cats, others – as well as farm animals and wildlife. The interactive events will bring together groups reflecting diverse interests, perspectives and geographic areas, all under a universal theme of making a difference for animals.
The conference Website -- http://www.AnimalAwakenings.org -- marks the beginnings of a virtual learning center. The center will feature events, on-demand programs and other resources on timely animal-related topics.
The programs and faculty for both events are posted at: http://www.AnimalAwakenings.org.
To enable the greatest participation, the July event is being offered at no charge and a minimal registration fee applies to the May program.
“The May event will help nonprofits and volunteers do even more and better for animals,” notes Marcia Elder, director of the sponsoring organization for the events and learning center. She adds, "the events are focused on helping those who help companion animals, farm animals and wildlife."
