With partner UISOL, Alektrona will be featuring simulated demand response (DR) events between wholesale markets, utilities and in-house energy management DR devices.

During this week's smart grid conference and exposition, DistribuTECH 2011, Alektrona will be demonstrating its OpenADR integration with strategic partner and leading provider of demand response (DR) management solutions Utility Integration Solutions, Inc. (UISOL).

"This is an exciting opportunity to showcase our unique connectivity skills and solutions," noted Alektrona President, Christopher Leidigh. "In UISOL's multi-vendor demo, Alektrona will be responsible for connecting Smart Energy devices with UISOL's DR management system, DRBizNetTM, with the OpenADR protocol."

UISOL will be featuring simulated DR events between wholesale markets, utilities and in-house energy management DR devices. In addition to providing connectivity with premise-based energy devices, Alektrona's Z-Aperture OpenADR client integrates with utilities and regional transmission organizations (RTO) to provide real-time pricing information and price based demand response capabilities.

Alektrona's Z-Aperture energy management hub reduces connectivity complexities in home area networks that utilize different devices from different vendors. Simplifying these communications helps energy service providers and smart grid companies to better serve their customers' energy needs.

Alektrona was invited to participate in the demo as part of an ongoing and developing relationship between the two organizations. "Alektrona's platform is open and agile," said Ali Vojdani, UISOL President. Highlighting a strength of Alektrona's solution he continued, "With their Z-Aperture energy management hub, it was easy to integrate with standards protocols and to build the demonstration in a rapid fashion."

Alektrona's OpenADR integration can be seen in UISOL's exhibition, Booth 126, at the San Diego Convention Center exhibit hall, February 1 - 3.
