Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) February 7, 2011
PLATO Learning, a leading provider of online learning solutions for elementary through adult learners, today announced two new Advanced Placement* (AP*) edition courses for accelerated students. The expanded courseware includes AP U.S. History and AP Chemistry, aligned with College Board standards to prepare advanced students for both the AP exam and to be college and career ready.
PLATO Learning’s AP U.S. History course is designed to provide students with the analytic skills and factual knowledge to critically think, write and speak about U.S History. The course prepares learners for college courses by teaching them how to interpret data, present arguments, solve problems and develop conclusions. AP U.S. History from PLATO also features an online, interactive platform designed to engage students and facilitate a collaborative learning environment.
AP Chemistry is closely aligned with science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) initiatives, in addition to College Board standards. The PLATO course is also highly rigorous, featuring the latest updates in science education, including inquiry science labs and online simulations. The content is designed especially for advanced students, with relevant assignments and interesting real-world applications of advanced science concepts.
PLATO’s AP U.S. History and AP Chemistry courses join three existing PLATO AP offerings – Biology, Calculus and English Literature – bringing PLATO’s total AP portfolio to five subjects. “PLATO is excited to announce two new additions to our existing AP portfolio, U.S. History and Chemistry,” said Jamie Candee, vice president of product and marketing for PLATO Learning. “More AP offerings provide school districts with more ways to challenge advanced students while also maximizing tight budgets and resources. Schools can leverage teacher resources, perhaps allowing them to offer a course they couldn’t feasibly offer in a traditional classroom setting.”
PLATO’s new AP U.S. History and Chemistry courses are semester-long courses. Since all of the content is available through an online platform, the courseware is extremely accessible and user-friendly. Further, the latest AP courses from PLATO are customizable, allowing schools to quickly and easily introduce the curriculum for either group or independent learning. The result is a more cost-effective solution for preparing advanced placement students to be 21st century scholars.
PLATO AP courses are currently available as a comprehensive library on a subscription basis.
