General LED Expands R&D and Product Development Capabilities, Michelle Kun Huang Named Chief Technology Officer

San Antonio-based General LED, parent company of AgiLight and GenLED Lighting, appoints Michelle Huang as Chief Technology Officer to lead the companies’ product development and R&D efforts.

San Antonio-based General LED, parent company of AgiLight and GenLED Lighting, appoints Michelle Huang as Chief Technology Officer to lead the companies’ product development and R&D efforts. Huang brings extensive knowledge of LED technologies from chip, package to system along with a background in both the engineering and manufacturing of LED (light emitting diode) lamps. She also has a strong base in lighting design and application. Huang is based at the company’s San Antonio headquarters.

Huang joins General LED after three years as LED Lamps Product Line Manager, North America at OSRAM SYLVANIA in Danvers, MA. Prior to her position at OSRAM SYLVANIA, she held several progressive LED engineering and management positions at OSRAM Opto-Semiconductors Inc. in Northville, MI. She served as an electrical engineer at SIEMENS Factory Automation in Beijing, China and began her career as an electrical engineer at the Beijing Building Design Institute of the China State Construction Engineering Corporation in Beijing, China.

Reporting to Huang is a team of product development specialists, lighting experts and engineers. The General LED engineering team has expertise in mechanical and electronic design, thermal analysis, metal and plastic material tooling. The company’s lighting and product development experts have experience in the design and manufacture of LED lamps and retrofit systems, LED lighting modules, OLED and LED display systems and electrical mechanical systems and electronic enclosures and packages.

Huang graduated Southeastern University, Nanjing, China with a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering and holds a Master of Science in Lighting from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. Currently, Huang has six patent applications for LED lamps and two patent applications for LED devices. She has two patents for Replaceable LED Lamp Capsules.
