Balanced Days, Balanced Lives: The New Way Forward to Better Health

We're truly honored and excited by this recognition. This really is a reflection of the outstanding membership community at NutriMirror who inspired this project.

In their recent announcement of the year’s best books, Kirkus Reviews singled out one title for their Discoveries Best Health and Fitness Book of 2010. Balanced Days, Balanced Lives, an in-depth look at improving health through sensible diet and exercise choices, took the top honors.

Published in the fall by PrePak Products, Inc., Balanced Days, Balanced Lives focuses on the lessons learned by members of PrePak’s online food journal system, NutriMirror®.

“The book grew out of the remarkable stories we were hearing from NutriMirror’s users,” says co-author Michael Ray. “What had started out as a simple tool to let people count calories and monitor their nutritional needs had really quickly grown into this amazing force for change in people’s lives. We decided to write Balanced Days, Balanced Lives as a way of documenting some of the great principles and tips that our community of members was sort of organically developing.”

The heart of the book is its collection of personal stories from 42 of those members — real people sharing their personal experiences of inspirational weight loss success, as well as tips, recipes, and example meal plans that show how they’ve achieved a healthy balance while still finding great pleasure in the foods they eat.

In fact, the importance of finding pleasure in the process of healthy weight loss is one of the Eight Guiding Truths for Lifelong Weight Control and Nutritional Balance that are highlighted in Balanced Days, Balanced Lives. These truths, like most everything else in the book, derive from the practical experiences of thousands of successful food journal users at NutriMirror.com.

The book expands on these principles to show readers how even non-NutriMirror members can make simple, easy lifestyle changes to create calorie and nutritional balance — and to achieve lifelong weight control success.

That’s one of the many reasons that Kirkus Reviews honored the title as its Discoveries Best Health and Fitness Book of 2010.

“We’re truly honored and excited by this recognition,” says Ray. “This is really a reflection of the outstanding membership community at NutriMirror who inspired this project — people who without any real prodding from us have created a place where they come every day for support, advice, and encouragement. It’s been so rewarding to follow their success and to think we’ve had some part in it.”
