Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA) Local 11 Gave Back to our Membership and Supported Some Great Organizations and Actions in 2010

AMFA Local 11, in 2010, assisted members with eleven $1,000 scholarships, sponsored a $2,000 US troop care package, sponsored a $1,500 Dallas CASA Parade of Playhouses event with Southwest Airlines and donated $5,000 for meals at the Ronald McDonald House in Dallas, Texas. 160 Aircraft Mechanics and Aircraft Appearance Technicians volunteered over 550 hours of service for 35 events at the Ronald McDonald House.

During the year of 2010, our volunteering members were able to serve the Ronald McDonald House guests a total of 35 separate times covering 19 breakfast events, 8 lunch events and 8 dinner events.

Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA) Local 11 gave back to our membership and supported some great organizations and actions in 2010. Even some of our membership went beyond the Local financial assistance by these supporting functions with their own time and money. AMFA Local 11 and our membership accomplished in the year 2010 to help members, organizations and the military are:

Eleven scholarships awarded to qualified members or their family members of $1,000 each.

Over $1,500 donated for materials in support of a project with Southwest Airlines for the Dallas CASA Parade of Playhouses program.

A donation of $2,000 for a support package for the United States military troops overseas. The donation was used to purchase DVDs, board games, personal hygiene products, and snack foods for the troops in Afghanistan.

$5,000 from AMFA Local 11 and an additional $1,100 contributed from Aircraft Mechanics and Aircraft Appearance Technicians for the guests of the Ronald McDonald House in Dallas, Texas. These funds were used by our members to purchase and personally serve meals for guest families and the purchase of four commercial grade waffle makers at the Ronald McDonald House.

These meals were served by the volunteering efforts of 160 Aircraft Mechanics and Aircraft Appearance Technicians of Southwest Airlines contributing over 559 hours of service. Special recognition goes to Dennis Tapper, Dale Dixon, David Rave and Teresa Price for their efforts in coordinating meals and logistics.

Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA) Local 11 is based in Dallas, Texas and is a labor union of over 960 professionals from Southwest Airlines and Mesaba Airlines. Our members are Aircraft Mechanics, Ground Support Equipment Technicians, Plant Maintenance Technicians, Maintenance Instructors, Maintenance Controllers and Aircraft Appearance Technicians stationed in Dallas, Texas; Austin, Texas; San Antonio, Texas; El Paso, Texas; Memphis, Tennessee; Detroit, Michigan; Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota; Des Moines, Iowa; Wausau, Wisconsin; and Rhinelander, Wisconsin.
