Enjoy “Great Flavors, Bold Foods” at Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa’s Annual Wine Lovers’ Weekend, March 24-27, 2011. The weekend agenda is filled with presentations by top winemakers, wine tastings, educational seminars and exquisite culinary-infused wine luncheons and dinners.
“For eleven years Eagle Ridge has been hosting the Wine Lovers’ Weekend and each year we add a new twist to enhance the event,” said Eagle Ridge Food & Beverage Director, Don Pleau. “This year’s theme, ‘Great Flavors, Bold Foods,’ promises to be very special as we explore wines and viticulture from areas such as Chile, Italy, Argentina and Australia.
“Wine Lovers’ Weekend if perfect for the novice just becoming interested in wine or the seasoned veteran with a cellar in their basement,” added Pleau who is also one of the resort’s resident Sommeliers. “Join us for the special weekend, it promises to be filled with ‘Great Flavors and Bold Foods."
While the weekend promises to be one filled with fine wine and dining, it features professional wine enthusiasts and culinary artists such as:
- Antonio Sanguineti, wine maker and consultant, of Sanguineti Winery in Tuscany, italy. Antonio will host the event’s Friday night dinner, “The Italian Table, Small Vineyards, Big Foods, ” concluding the dining experience with “Grappa, The Italian Cordial.”
- William Whiting, Director of Wine Education, Banfi Vintners, Old Brooksville, New York. William tailors and implements educational programs for both trade and consumers with a focus on the wines of Italy, Chilie, Argentina and Austrialia. He will specifically host the Saturday evening dinner, “The South American Experience: Modern Wine, Traditional Foods,” followed by “A Single Malt Night Cap,” to conclude the day’s events.
- Bryan Gentile of Moet et Chandon, one of the finest and iconic wine producers in the world, is an expert is fine sparkling wines. Bryan will conclude the weekend with his presentation at “The Winemakers Panel Sparkling Sunday Brunch.”
Sessions include Beer, Cheese and Brothers Ale and Cheese Tasting with Jim and Jason Ebel of Two Brothers Brewing Company in Warrenville, Ill.; “Exploring Italy’s Small Vineyards” with Antonio Sanguineti; “To Oak or Not to Oak, The Story of Chardonnay” with Stephen Curtis, Eagle Ridge’s own Sommelier and Restaurant Services Manager; “Noechcnul Sdrawkcab Eht (The Backwards Luncheon)” presented by Don Pleau, Food & Beverage Director at Eagle Ridge and a Sommelier; “A Romp Thru the Vineyards of Chili and Argentina” with William Whiting; and a culinary exhibition by Eagle Ridge’s Chef Morgan Wesley, “The Asian Influence.”
A Bacchus Cellar Wine Dinner will be held on Thursday, March 24 to prelude the weekend wine events. The dinner is separate from the Wine Lovers’ Weekend Package being offered. Tickets are available for $100 per person. To book this unique, particular event, call 800-892-2269.
