MCEC Restructures Finance and Administration Division

On Monday 31 January 2011 the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre’s (MCEC) finance and administration division split into two separate divisions – administration and corporate planning and finance.

On Monday 31 January 2011 the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre’s (MCEC) finance and administration division split into two separate divisions – administration and corporate planning and finance.

The new director of administration and corporate planning is Barbara Adams who was previously the corporate planning and MCCD administration manager.

Barbara has been with the MCEC for almost seven years and has worked within both the executive department and the previous finance and administration department in various leadership roles.

During this time she was also a member of the Standards Australia Mirror Committee for development of ISO 20121 Sustainability in Event Management, committee member, representing ICCA Australia, President, Rotary Club of Southbank Inc and Chair, Rotary Club of Southbank Inc Board.

Barbara holds a Masters of Business Administration from Swinburne University, Melbourne.

Amanda McPherson is the new director of finance and was previously the assistant director of finance at the MCEC.

Born into the hospitality industry, Amanda spent her childhood years working in her family restaurant in Queensland. After studying she spent five years working for Ernst & Young in their Sydney, Melbourne and London practices.

She combined her passion for sport and finances by working at the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games and then the North Melbourne Football Club. In 2008 she returned to the hospitality industry as Accounting Services Manager at the MCEC.

Amanda has a Bachelor of Business (Majoring in Accounting and Management), Queensland University of Technology and has completed the Chartered Accounting Chartered Accounting Program, ICAA.

MCEC's chief executive, Leigh Harry says he is looking forward to working with the new director’s and all the members of both divisions as they start a very busy, exciting and successful next period.

“I congratulate both Amanda and Barbara on their appointments,” Harry said.

The restructure of the finance and administration division is due to the resignation of Paul van Loon after more than 13 years of valuable service at the MCEC.
