CampusSplash, an emerging network of websites and applications for motivated college and high school students, released a Facebook application today that predicts college admissions.

Currently, 2.2 million high school students are planning on going to college. There are over 2600 four year schools in the United States for high school students to choose from. Admissions at selective schools are becoming increasingly difficult, with 35,000 students applying to Harvard this year.

In order to help students figure out their college changes, CampusSplash developed a Facebook application called AdmissionSplash that predicts high school students’ chances of getting into college.

Students create a college list, enter their academic and demographic information, and get their results based on a proprietary formula. They can share it with their friends or keep it to themselves.

CampusSplash performed accuracy tests with publically available individual admissions information. With a sample of 75 students admitted to New York University, AdmissionSplash correctly predicted their acceptance 90.6% of the time.

With a sample size of 73 students admitted to University of California-Los Angeles, AdmissionSplash predicted their acceptance 97.3% of the time.

Currently the formula works for about 1500 schools and counting.

The application was developed by CampusSplash, a company started by a recent college graduate and a current college student who believe that the current college admissions system is too complex and overwhelming.

AdmissionSplash is focused on providing students with free college admissions assistance. Students should not have to wonder, “What are my chances?” or pay private college counselors thousands of dollars.

The Facebook application launches today, Tuesday February 8th. It can be accessed at http://www.admissionsplash.com
