Behind the world’s most profitable enterprise is Rico Salazar, a man without a conscience. This crime kingpin protects his interests by killing those in his way. But when Madeleine Nesbitt’s parents are killed, she will mastermind a shocking revenge.

Paradise turns into a life-and-death nightmare when transnational crime lord Rico Salazar decides to use the Bahamas as his drug cartel’s headquarters. But when he crosses the path of Madeleine Nesbitt, she turns vigilante in her quest for revenge and justice. Readers will breathlessly turn pages in anticipation of Salazar being brought to justice in Leona Bodie’s debut crime thriller “Shadow Cay” (ISBN 9780984419814, WRB Publishing, 2010).

Greed, crime, and murder. Love and hate. International smuggling, corrupt corporations, and the beautiful Bahamas. A sea of deception and lies engulfs the characters in “Shadow Cay.” At the center of this whirlpool is Rico Salazar, the man behind the world’s most profitable enterprise, trafficking—he is a man without a conscience. Salazar’s shadowy past has taught him to take control of situations, and to take no prisoners. His Miami partner in crime, A.J. Hartman, manufactures pacemakers, while greed leaves him unconcerned about his products’ defects.

Madeleine Nesbitt was sixteen when she watched her innocent parents killed at Salazar’s hands. Following her amazing escape and concealment underwater, she decides to seek revenge. After changing her name and appearance, Madeleine infiltrates Rico’s network, and befriends Peter Duncan, Hartman’s employee, who is dismayed by how the company is compromising its ethics out of greed—a situation all too prevalent in today’s corporate world. When even the police are paid off by Hartman and Salazar, Madeleine must bring about her own form of justice.

Readers and reviewers are raving that “Shadow Cay” is one of the best crime suspense novels in years. Carole Hoyer, Ph.D., of Reader Views warns, “Get ready for the most exciting, fast-paced book you have read….I guarantee you won’t be able to put it down!” BellaOnline Mystery editor declares, “Intense, chilling, entertaining….If you enjoy a good thriller, ‘Shadow Cay’ will provide that and more….The beautiful Bahamas background adds contrast to the frightening action and gritty texture of the story.” And the Midwest Book Review proclaims, “The storyline is deep and rich, flowing with characters that piece together like a fine jigsaw puzzle, bringing forth a story that reels with adventure and intrigue.”
