Faultline Communications (http://www.faultlinecomms.com) today announced that Audyssey Laboratories has engaged the firm to serve as the company’s public relations agency of record. The engagement began in mid-2010 and hit full stride in September with the announcement of the company’s first Audyssey-branded consumer product, the Audyssey South of Market Audio Dock (http://www.audyssey.com/southofmarket).

”Faultline has a great record of working with smaller consumer electronics companies and meeting the special needs of small businesses,” said Robb Mason, Audyssey’s vice president of marketing. “As we built our strategy, having a smaller, hands-on firm really made all the difference in our approach and the results speak for themselves as seen in the great coverage from the release of our first CE product.”

Audyssey has long been a player in the audio technology market, having pioneered a unique, software-based approach to solving audio problems, beginning with its invention of MultEQ in 2004. Since that time, Audyssey has greatly expanded its portfolio of audio technologies that improve audio performance in IMAX theaters, automobiles and home theaters.

Audyssey engaged Faultline to help the company build awareness for its audio technology licensing business, as well as to help Audyssey build a name for itself in the consumer technology market. The first milestone in this journey occurred in September when Faultline and Audyssey orchestrated the very successful launch of Audyssey’s first branded consumer product, the South of Market Audio Dock. Despite being a relative unknown in the consumer tech market, September’s launch resulted in strong coverage in a range of media outlets, from key online properties such as CNET, Engadget and Gizmodo; to well-known traditional outlets like the New York Times, Popular Science and Wired; to leading lifestyle outlets such as CoolHunting, CoolMaterial and TrendHunter.

“Breaking into the consumer tech market can be a tricky endeavor, and we’re very happy that Audyssey entrusted Faultline to help them make the leap,” said Faultline’s president John Snedigar. “Our companies are a great cultural fit for one another – we share an entrepreneurial passion that, when united, can do great things. Our collaboration has already produced solid results, and we’re optimistic that the future holds even greater rewards for us both.”

Audyssey’s new audio dock began shipping in North America in November 2010, and global distribution began in January 2011.
