Digital dictation supports the Trust's 'lean' initiative to speed up the time taken to record and type dictations. East Cheshire's decision was a result of recommendations from a number of neighbouring Trusts - the solution is now being used by over 400 users across 21 departments.

"The system is extremely easy to learn, it works well, improves the service for patients and makes life easier for my medical secretary".

SRC, a leading provider of document creation and clinical information solutions, today announced a Trust wide roll out of the Winscribe digital dictation system at East Cheshire NHS Trust. The new solution supports the Trust’s ‘lean’ initiative, by automating dictation and transcription processes, and delivers a quicker way of producing urgent clinical letters. SRC has now implemented digital dictation to over 400 users in 21 departments across the entire Trust.

Vicky Bond, Clinical Administration Manager at East Cheshire NHS Trust said: “SRC was recommended to us by a number of neighbouring Trusts and we’ve not been disappointed with the service we’ve received. They clearly understand the healthcare sector, and have been able to quickly roll out a solution that fully meets our needs.”

The new solution enables clinicians to mark priority dictations as urgent and instantly track the progress of work. The Winscribe software automatically distributes dictations to secretaries and enables them to collaborate more effectively to improve typing turnaround times. The in-built reporting capability also provides an overview on system usage, so workloads can be reorganised and the Trust can maximise productivity.

Dr. Stead at East Cheshire NHS Trust said: "The system is extremely easy to learn, it works well, improves the service for patients and makes life easier for my medical secretary."

Annabelle Lowe, a medical secretary at East Cheshire NHS Trust said: “Absolutely marvellous in every way. Soon we will be able to type the letters even before the patient is seen. We are finding everything so much faster, which means it is better for both us and the patients.”

SRC is the leading provider of digital dictation and speech recognition solutions in the UK and the Winscribe system is used by more than 60 NHS Trusts. Within the North West region several Trusts have already chosen SRC, including; Trafford Healthcare NHS Trust, Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, University Hospital of South Manchester and Tameside Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Chris Hart, CEO at SRC added: “East Cheshire NHS Trust is recognised as a trusted provider of excellent patient care in the North West. By moving to SRC’s document creation solutions, the Trust is already boosting efficiency and productivity. We look forward to helping the Trust further improve business performance and patient care, through our range of solutions.”
