Dear Commissioner Delany,

The Big Ten Conference is going through many changes in the coming year. At MycroBurst, we congratulate you on your ability to retain the integrity of the conference and take these great schools into the future.

We do have one thing to say. That new logo has got to go.

That may seem harsh, but someone has to tell you the truth. The new logo design is not eye-catching. It’s not clever. It’s not attractive. Even the color is wrong. Fans are not running to stores to buy apparel with the new logo. They are running to the internet to complain about it.

Rather than join the logo haters, we decided to do something about it. Something simple.

We ran a contest.

In just four weeks, talented and ambitious fans and graphic designers from around the US and the globe sent us over a thousand logos for our unofficial contest. There was an outpouring of support from all over the internet. We couldn’t pick a winner ourselves; so again, we turned to the Big Ten fans to vote for a winner. We included our top 5 favorites, and put the new Big Ten logo up against them all.

Thousands of fans spoke, and we heard them loud and clear. The winning design was create by Alan Tuohey, a graphic designer from Wheeling, Illinois. Tuohey, a big University of Minnesota fan, created a unique logo that garnered 34% of the votes and won a $500 prize. Another logo design, by University of Michigan fan Anthony Tscherne, got another 27% of the vote. Tscherne, a student at Bowling Green State University studying visual communication, came in 2nd place, winning a $250 prize.

And your logo, Commissioner Delany? Your Big Ten logo only got 3% of the votes.

At MycroBurst, we are all about giving people the designs that they need. We are happy to offer you either the first or second place logo, with complete trademark rights, for free. If you can’t make up your mind, you can have them both. These logos are clearly more loved and accepted by the fans than the one you chose. The Big Ten conference definitely deserves better.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
Zaheer Dodhia, CEO of MycroBurst.com,
and Thousands of Big Ten Fans
