Tampa, FL (PRWEB) February 10, 2011
Klingons, Troopers, Pirates, and other celebrities join guests in a weekend-long sci-fi convention presented by Vulcan Events. Appearing in full Klingon makeup and costume, actor J.G. Hertzler (Klingon General Martok) and actor Robert O’Reilly (Klingon Chancellor Gowron) will be available for photo ops and signing autographs. Joining them is lead actor of Starship Troopers Casper Van Dien; science fiction novelist Peter David; from Pirates of the Caribbean, Lee Arenberg and Martin Klebba; Catwoman and former Miss America Lee Meriwether; and popular actor Steven Culp. Special effects makeup artist John Paladin will transform one lucky convention guest into a full fledge Klingon, with the proceeds going to charity—the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
"It is a full weekend of entertainment. If you arrive Friday night we will keep you engaged until Sunday night. Sleep is just an option. First timers love it; they are usually the ones who come in full costume next time."
Their second annual event promises to provide a relaxed and sociable atmosphere where fans can mingle with stars and enjoy the many convention activities including auctions, themed dance party Saturday night, and special events for children. In conjunction with the crews of the IKV Widowmaker and FekLhr’s Hoof from Central Florida, Vulcan Events will be hosting a Klingon feast with dishes of Grilled Targ Ribs with Grapok Sauce and Bregit Lungs—all toned down for human consumption.
First-time convention goers will be pleasantly surprised at the ambiance and disposition of the average patron. “We may look like geeks in rubber masks but we are doctors, teachers, and people from all walks of life. This is our fun; this is our escape” notes Javier Garcia, one of the promoters.
Two ticket options are available for advanced purchase. An inclusive Platinum ticket is $195 and general admission is $40 for the entire weekend. If available, tickets at the door will be offered at a higher rate.
