Brown McCarroll announces Deborah C. Hiser, R. Tyler Johnson, and Mary Evelyn McNamara have been elected partners. Their promotions strengthen the firm’s health care, real estate and family law practices.

Deborah C. Hiser has extensive experience in behavioral health care. In addition, she advises clients on health care regulatory and compliance matters, with emphasis on health care privacy under HIPAA, HITECH and Texas state law. She counsels hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers and physical group practices on peer review, medical staff and governing board bylaws, credentialing and disciplinary matters. She also represents medical professionals in Medicare appeals, administrative proceedings before licensing boards and in peer review proceedings. She is actively involved in the Austin community as a board member of Planned Parenthood of the Central Texas Region and co-founder of Texas Heart, a nonprofit organization serving uninsured individuals. She earned a J.D. from The University of Texas School of Law, a Masters in Social Work from Our Lady of the Lake, Worden School of Social Work and a B.A, with honors, from The University of Texas at Austin.

R. Tyler Johnson focuses his practice in real estate law and general business counseling. He counsels clients on all aspects of the development, acquisition, disposition, financing, operations and leasing of office, retail, multi-family, industrial, hotel, electric generating facilities and other types of real estate. He is editor of and contributor to The Texas Real Estate Law Blog. He earned a J.D., cum laude, from Texas Tech University School of Law and a B.A. from Brigham Young University.

Mary Evelyn McNamara is Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Her practice focuses on helping clients in divorces involving complex property issues and children’s issues, child custody modification cases, and enforcement of court orders. As a former law clerk for the Third Court of Appeals, she also handles appeals. She is on the board of directors of Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas and is active in the Austin Bar Association Family Law Section and Texas Women Lawyers. She earned a J.D. from The University of Texas School of Law and a B.A. from Duke University.
