"Despite the global recession, the independent concierge industry is one of the fastest growing industries in the world." Katharine C. Giovanni, CCS, ICLMA Chairman of the Board and Founder

The International Concierge and Lifestyle Management Association (ICLMA) is currently the only organization in the world conducting research on the independent concierge industry and it now offers its popular industry survey results to the general public.
The survey indicates that Concierge and Lifestyle Management businesses are on the rise, even in this current economy. Corporate downsizing has caused many people to start their own concierge business. Why? One reason is due to it’s low start up costs. Statistics show that 51.2% of those surveyed invested $5000 or less to start-up and of that percentage, 23.6% realized a profit in the first year. In fact, in the past year (in a recession) 41.5% showed a profit!
There are many niche market opportunities as well including the hospital concierge, the hottest growing market in the industry. Providing services to seniors is also a growing niche. Because concierge and lifestyle managers are known to provide two of the most needed services - adding time to your day and arranging access into the inaccessible - other popular niche’s include providing services to two-income families, CEO’s, and celebrities.
Perhaps the most interesting result is that the average hourly rates indicated by the survey range from $30 to $55 per hour for companies in the United States. Outside the U.S., rates range between $35 and $55 Euros.
Headquartered in North Carolina, with members across the globe, ICLMA is the world's leading professional association designed to support concierge and lifestyle management professionals world-wide.
The survey results are available to the general public for $25 at http://www.ICLMA.org.
