The sale of e-pins in the past has, without integration, meant that retailers had to use an online system and then enter the entire transaction again into the POS to track the payment. Prepaid pins have also come in the form of “hard cards”, but as physical inventory items they must be counted and tracked by retailers. One of their disadvantages is that they are easily stolen and have proven very difficult to track down and relocate without serious effort.
Along with reducing errors and fraud in airtime pin sales, access to e-pins via Wireless Standard will offer retailers increased sales versatility and streamlined reconciliation.
