Debut author, Bobby L. Sneed, writes a new Inspiring marriage manual. Marriage: It’s in Your Hands is an inspiring marriage self-help manual designed to assist you in the development of your private, personal and public life to become the person you need to be to have a successful marriage. Many ask the question, “What must I do to have a successful marriage?" This is the incorrect question to ask. What you should ask is, "Who do I need to become first to do what is necessary to have a successful marriage?" What we do does not make us who we are; it merely reflects who we already were. Private victories precede public victories. You must have success evidenced with self before you can have success evidenced with another person in a committed, lifelong relationship. Many times couples rush into marriage with unhealthy sexual, emotional and mental habits or baggage attempting to have success with another person in a committed relationship, but they have not experienced success with themselves. According to The Divorce Center statistics, 2.2 million couples married and 1.1 million couples divorced in 1998. In 2000, 58 million couples were married yet separated. People between the ages of 25 and 39 make up 60 percent of all divorces, and over one million children are affected by divorce each year. Divorce Magazine reported in 2002 that only 52 percent of married people reach their fifteenth anniversary. There are some people that have a desire to be married and have a successful marriage, but they do not have the discipline, character, or integrity to practice a lifestyle that will prepare them for marriage.Marriages that lack unconditional love and respect along with intimacy and romance cannot be happy ones-and seldom last.
Despite these statistics, the author wants to inform readers that married couples can be successful in their marital relationship when they develop, protect and submit to a higher power. When you replace your current way of thinking with this way of thinking, a renewing of your mind will begin to take place, and you will consciously become the husband or wife that you desire to be. You must first transform your mind to become an effective marriage partner by understanding you are making a commitment and agreeing to become someone capable and willing to do something to make this true. Just saying who you want to be does not make it true! Love should not be the primary reason you marry. You should enter into a marital covenant for a “shared purpose” using both love and respect as tools to sustain the marriage. Marriage between a man and woman was designed and created by God to fulfill a special purpose, to achieve something greater as a couple than what can be accomplished alone. Marriage: It’s in Your Hands is about assisting you in development of your private, personal and public life on a continual basis to become and maintain the person you need to be to have a successful marriage.
Bobby L. Sneed, Jr., author and motivational speaker, is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Business Administration. Bobby Sneed went through a bitter divorce in 2007, and he understands how emotionally draining a divorce can be on someone. The pain, hurt, and embarrassment that comes with getting a divorce is life-changing. Because of that, Sneed doesn’t want to experience divorce again—and he doesn’t want you to experience it either. With the help of God, he has put together this marriage manual that will give you spiritual insight, guidance, and instruction on marriage. His prayer is that you avoid divorce and, instead, grasp the concept that the success of your marriage is truly in your hands.
