Pediatric Community Joins SeatSnug In Raising Child Safety Awareness

Lap Belt Cinch, Inc. (LBC), developers of CG-Lock technology and makers of the CG-Lock and SeatSnug seatbelt enhancement devices, announced today that the SeatSnug stability device will be featured by Pediatric Safety on the organization's web site (http://www.pediatricsafety.net/2011/01/seatsnug/). Pediatric Safety, a leading organization in the promotion of safety awareness for children, also announced the organization's support for SeatSnug's SnugUp America Campaign, a national campaign focused on promoting greater public awareness for children safety.

In making the announcement, Stefanie Zucker, Managing Director of Pediatric Safety, stated "The SnugUp America Campaign is a great way to bring awareness to the safety issues facing our children. Just 1 child traveling unsecured or incorrectly secured in a car is too many – unfortunately, today the number is more like 3 out of 4. Products like the SeatSnug stability device which was designed to ensure children are securely buckled in can make a difference. We are happy to offer SeatSnug and the SnugUp America Campaign our support as a means of getting this important message out." The SnugUp America campaign was launched by SeatSnug late last year to coincide with National Child Passenger Safety Week sponsored by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The campaign continues to gain recognition from the parenting and safety communities and is also being supported by Alison Rhodes, the nationally recognized "Safety Mom".

Motor vehicle injuries are the leading cause of death for children of every age from 2 to 14 years old. Over 2,000 children are killed in auto accidents every year and hundreds of thousands injured, with head injuries the most common and abdominal injuries the second most common for seat belted children. “Many of these injuries and fatalities can be prevented by a properly positioned and secured seat belt” states Ms. Rhodes who sites this as the motivation behind her joining the SeatSnug, Snug Up America campaign.
The patented SeatSnug, born of the CG-Lock technology, is a small palm sized seatbelt enhancement device that easily clips on an existing seatbelt to enhance the safety, stability and comfort of children riding in booster seats. It allows you to gently tighten the lap belt over a child’s upper thighs and hips by simply pulling up on the shoulder belt without affecting normal operation of the shoulder belt. Once the lap belt is tightened to more safely secure the child to the seat, SeatSnug prevents slack from developing in the lap belt to increase child safety and reduce the risk of injury in an accident.

In response to the announced support of Pediatric Safety, Chuck Carter, CEO of LBC, states “We are grateful to the Pediatric Safety organization for their support. We both agree, children are our most precious resource. As parents and concerned adults, it is our responsibility to keep children safe as they grow from babies into young women and men. Children are met with numerous hazards as they grow up in a world built for adults. This is especially true today for children riding in motor vehicles, where “one-size-fits all” seats and seat belts are designed to fit adults and are not designed to fit children and their fragile bodies. Our Snug Up America Campaign emphasizes the importance of properly securing children with seat belts while riding in vehicles to make certain the shoulder belt and the lap belt are properly positioned to enhance their safety in the event of an accident.”

Originally developed as an aftermarket product for the performance driving market CG-Lock has gained worldwide attention by securing international stunt drivers during the filming of such movies as National Treasure starring Nicholas Cage, James Bond's Quantum of Solace starring Daniel Craig and as the "secret safety device" used by the STIG in the popular #1 BBC show Top Gear. The CG-Lock improves overall seatbelt performance to enhance driver control and to enhance the safety and comfort of the user.
