Weather Analytics announces access to a network of over 600,000 virtual weather stations (called Virtual Sensor Stations™) each providing high-quality, hourly weather data where it was never available before. Energy use modeling, building simulation, renewable energy site analysis, demand planning and many other decisions require precise, local weather and climate data. With a Virtual Sensor Station™ positioned every 35-km across the globe over 30 years of detailed weather data plus current and forecasted conditions are now available online for any location in the world.

Finally, detailed weather and climate data is available exactly where it is needed anywhere in the world. Accurately categorizing the climate at any location is essential for reliable simulation and analysis. This requires at least 30 years of hourly observation history. However, only a handful of certified weather sensor stations have been operating for that period – less than 1000 with over 80% complete data. Now, by placing over 600,000 Virtual Sensor Stations™ one every 35-km around the world, over 30 years of detailed weather sensor data is now available exactly where it is needed.

Each Virtual Sensor Station™ provides continuous hourly time-series weather data from 1/1/1979 through current conditions and 7-day forecasts plus TMY and EnergyPlus (EWP) files for its location. The output is gap-free, and formatted to provide reliable input for models and commercial applications, and devices. Users may either access the Virtual Sensor Station™ network or position their own Virtual Sensor Station™ at their site of interest.
