On examining these paintings, we can clearly understand that their indefinite composition is no more than a pretext to make spectators focus on what interests the artist, to position us in regard to his personal reflection about time standing still.

Chelsea Marketeers will present the artwork of Ignacio Burgos at the Palm Springs Modernism Show, February 18 through February 21, 2001. Burgos will be present to speak about his art at a Wine & Cheese Reception to be held Saturday, February 19 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Chelsea Marketeers booth, #804 at the Palm Springs Convention Center.
Spanish-born artist Ignacio Burgos is one of the most renown contemporary artists – Latin or otherwise. His works, which portray anonymous men, women and children, in everyday activities evoke deep emotion, empathy and interest in the subjects. His paintings are vibrant, alive and exciting while at the same time provide the viewer with a chance to view the subjects in often private moments. Through his signature style of seemingly accidental splatters and drips, Burgos creates art that is, at the same time, both universal and personal. Ignacio Burgos is truly one of the foremost artists of his generation.
Ignacio Burgos (b. 1968), even at such a young age, has become an internationally known force on the art scene. His work has been exhibited at the Cite Internationale des Arts, Paris; Marisa Portugues gallery, Madrid; De Miguel gallery, Munich; Ambit Gallery, Barcelona; Laberinto Gallery, Granada; New York University, New York; as well as locations throughout Europe and now in India and Russia.
In The Book, biographer Manuel Romero writes "On examining these paintings, we can clearly understand that their indefinite composition is no more than a pretext to make spectators focus on what interests the artist, to position us in regard to his personal reflection about time standing still. Time, that great sculptor, to echo the words of Marguerite Yourcenar."
Chelsea Marketeers will be offering the works for sale.
