TigerStop, the global leader in linear positioning systems, announces the release of its Businesses Built Metal Tough™, best-in-class customer series. The series highlights industry leading TigerStop customers who share their success stories around their investments in improved productivity and quality. The series focuses on best-in-class businesses that have incorporated Built Metal Tough TigerStop products into their work cells achieving significant quality improvements, higher productivity, and cost reductions. The TigerStop systems attach to a cold saw, punch press, ironworker, or any machine needing linear positioning automation.

Cotterman Company, headquartered in Croswell, MI, a manufacturer of ladders for industry and commerce, and a longtime customer of TigerStop, is the first to receive the Businesses Built Metal Tough designation. Cotterman processes a lot of steel and aluminum tubing for their ladders, and prior to using TigerStops, equipment setup times required them to maintain significant inventories of raw and in-process materials. Cotterman first added a Tigerstop automated pusher system to their tube cutting chop saw where tubes are dropped by a bundle loader two at a time. The TigerStop allowed Cotterman to cut tubes to order which eliminated their in-process inventory. Once they saw the benefits and efficiencies with the TigerStop on the chop saw workstation, they added an additional TigerStop system to their bender machine allowing them to further cut costs.

“Setting up our saws and benders for each ladder part cost us a lot of time and money,” said Larry Higgins, plant manager, Cotterman. “Now with TigerStop, we have eliminated that set-up time. This allows us to truly build to order without the need to stock parts for rare product orders.”

Due to the savings and simplicity of using TigerStop products, Cotterman is incorporating a TigerStop with other machines - a punch press workstation and another saw station. With TigerStop products, Cotterman has been able to build ladders to order, and they have eliminated the need to stock finished inventory saving hundreds of thousands of dollars in addition to a 50% productivity savings every year.

Machine tool operators can learn how to use any TigerStop product in about 15 minutes offering immediate savings on time and money. Productivity packages are also available for all TigerStop Built Metal Tough Products, including optimization with nested work order lists ensuring the most cost effective use of valuable raw materials. And TigerStop’s WorkFlow Manager offers the ability to download work orders from standard design software directly to all Built Metal Tough TigerStop products on the shop floor in minutes.
