“Our SSMS is business-critical; if certain documentation and information is not available, our ships can be prevented from sailing." Inc., a leader in web-based Document and Content Management solutions, has announced Carnival UK, a subsidiary of Carnival Corporation & PLC and the operator of P&O Cruises and Cunard Line, has selected DOCOVA® ECM for their business-critical Documents and Processes.

Carnival UK will initially deploy DOCOVA to manage their fleet business-critical Ship Safety Management System (SSMS). With Carnival UK strictly regulated for passenger transit and safety, DOCOVA will need to meet strong compliance requirements for managing documents and processes from ship to shore.

“The usual suppliers of ECM solutions could not meet our challenging requirements. We thought our only option would be a bespoke application until we met with and were introduced to DOCOVA,” states Carnival UK IT director Haydon Williams “Our SSMS is business-critical; if certain documentation and information is not available, our ships can be prevented from sailing.”

DOCOVA met Carnival UK’s stringent regulatory and other business and technical requirements by leveraging IBM Lotus Domino’s data replication reliability and DOCOVA’s unique distributed architecture.

“Carnival UK can easily configure DOCOVA for many other document and content-centric applications – at a fraction of the cost they were used to,” adds Gary Walsh, Managing Director, Europe,, “DOCOVA’s unique ability to handle large volumes of content and documents based in Lotus Domino enables DOCOVA to scale to meet Carnival UK’s future needs.”

“DOCOVA was selected for many reasons, including: the ease of configuration and usability, and it’s integrated suite of functionality. When combined together, we expect the solution to deliver significant savings and business benefits,” concludes Haydon, “While SSMS is the our first implementation using DOCOVA, I’m excited about the potential DOCOVA can bring to our overall Document & Content Management strategy, for improving the management of documents, content and processes within our organization.”

"DOCOVA has a rich set of extensive, integrated capabilities for Document and Content Management -- at a price/value point that our customers tell us is hard to beat," Andy Brittain, Head of Sales and Marketing, Time Technology LTD (a DOCOVA business partner).
