Vero Beach, CA (PRWEB) February 13, 2011
Harbor Retirement Associates, a Vero Beach owned and operated Senior Living corporation, recently hosted a leadership conference that drew over 100 employees and family from around the country. The three-day event was held at various locations on Ocean Drive.
The idea evolved from a motivation to highlight the remarkable achievements of team members at every level in the company. COO Marc Vorkapich says “We wanted to establish a tradition in the company where associates are recognized for their commitment and devotion to our residents. Being able to host the conference here on the Treasure Coast made the experience even more memorable.” The conference kicked off on the beach at Mulligan’s, and continued at favorite local destinations, including the Vero Beach Hotel and Spa and El Toro Bravo. HRA’s premier independent living community, Regency Park, hosted numerous events as well. The conference culminated with a Leadership Awards Ceremony at Costa d’ Este hotel. Marc continues, “HRA has seventeen communities that are geographically dispersed throughout the east coast. This conference allowed us to not only support the hotels and businesses on Ocean Drive, but to personally show our gratitude for the God-given talents that our associates share with residents every day.”
In a business climate where technology advances often trump face-to-face relationships, HRA seeks to change the rules. After two days of skills development, team leaders welcomed their associates, who thought they were invited to the ceremony as nominees. Human Resources Vice President Dan Holloway says, “Although recognizing associates via social media or teleconferencing has become popular due to its efficiency, the opportunity to be with our associates and interact with them proved invaluable.” The energy in the room was tangible as associates realized each individual was recognized for his or her exceptional gifts. The categories ranged from Community of the Year to Most Valuable Player, which included cooks, housekeepers, sales associates and drivers from the various communities. HarborChase of Tallahassee took numerous accolades, including Community of the Year.
Dan concludes, “Our associates embody HRA’s Core Values daily by devoting themselves to the health, care and well-being of our residents and their families. It was a great honor to express our appreciation for their dedication, while at the same time supporting the local community that gives us so much every day.”
