Cogent Real-Time Systems announces the release of DataHub® QuickTrend, a free software application that allows users to quickly create, view, and print real-time charts from their process data. Acting as an OPC, DDE, or TCP client, QuickTrend allows up to 20 simultaneous plots, with adjustable axes, point value scaling and offsets, and a zoom feature.
"Engineers, managers, analysts, or anyone else with a source of real-time data can now get a quick view of what's going on with their system," said Andrew Thomas, President of Cogent Real-Time Systems. "Trending real-time data can help you investigate problems, identify potential for optimization, and verify new strategies."
Based on the proven technology of the Cogent DataHub, and its predecessor, the OPC DataHub, the new DataHub QuickTrend provides connectivity to OPC, the popular automation protocol for Windows, as well as the more common DDE and TCP protocols. This means that it can connect to most industrial processes, as well as Excel spreadsheets and custom programs.
DataHub QuickTrend uses a point-and-click interface that can be configured in minutes, enabling read-only access to all available data in the OPC or DDE server. Trend lines can be magnified using built-in zooming, and printed at the click of a mouse. Although data values may change faster than the screen refresh rate, no values are lost. In contrast to other products that poll the data source, every change in value is received by DataHub QuickTrend, and appears in the trend plot output.
In addition to the free, standalone product, the DataHub QuickTrend utility is also included as a standard feature in the Cogent DataHub product family. The Cogent DataHub provides quick, reliable, and secure access to valuable information direct from the factory floor. It is an integrated tool that can present live process data directly on an engineer's or manager's desk in a form most suitable: web browser, database, or spreadsheet. It provides OPC tunnelling, bridging, and redundancy, and has a free API to support virtually any requirement for OPC connectivity.
DataHub QuickTrend and the Cogent DataHub are developed and maintained by Cogent Real-Time Systems. Founded in 1995, Cogent provides versatile and reliable middleware products to enable real-time data integration and access for industrial, embedded, and financial systems. Customers include Siemens, ABB, Honeywell, IBM, GE, Statoil, Goodyear, BASF, Cadbury Chocolate, and the Bank of Canada. Cogent DataHub and DataHub QuickTrend are either registered trademarks or trademarks of Cogent Real-Time Systems Inc. in Canada, the United States, and other countries.
