Literary T-shirt Company Fights for a Return to the Arts

With only a smattering of independent bookstores and local libraries still able to keep their doors open, coupled with todays youth growing up on computers, TV, and video games, it is more important than ever to fight for the Arts. Literary Rags, an online Literary theme t-shirt company, is attempting to do just that.

Using the vehicle of t-shirts, has now over 100 authors to choose from. They have Poets, Novelists, Philosophers, Founding Fathers and Epochs -- which is a four face collection of The Beat Generation, The Lost Generation, The Harlem Renaissance and The Transcendentalists. And all shirts have a quote of the author's work on the back, which gives a bit more flavor to the overall shirt, as it gives people a small taste of what the author is about.

David Richardson, the company founder, feels that the quote "adds something to the overall feel of the shirt. We have gotten quite a bit of feedback from those that wear the shirts, and have others respond to what they read on the back." He also adds, " of course we have our die-hard Novelist fans, and surprisingly enough, Philosophy fans as well, that just love the image on the front."

But all-in-all, Mr. Richardson is happy with the reception that gets wherever it shows up.
"I'm pretty positive with how people receive us, it most definitely gives me hope...we just have find a way to reach a larger audience." is also working on new designs to add to its collection. "We really never want to stop," adds Mr. Richardson, " we get author recommendations all the time, and we would love to someday fulfill every one of them "
